Baby Allie

I am so loving all the babies that are being born at the

moment.

As it gives me an excuse to make more quilts or in this

case machine quilt them.

 

 My daughter Kym made this quilt for her Girlfriends baby

Allie

I love the owl he is so cute.

She asked me to quilt it for her, so I did feathers on the pattern fabric and

pebbles and swirls around the owl and the name.

It's Kym's first attempt at applique, so she did pretty well I think    

(she must take after her mother wink wink!!!)

Now its ready for binding and then onto a special baby girl.

A Boy Story

Well, it's only three weeks to go now till my little GS arives.

so

I decided to make Anni Downs "A Boy Story"

with a slight alteration.

I must admit when I was told he was a boy, I was a little miffed as

I have only had girls, but I have been told that boys are much more

cuddlier, so I will be looking forward to lots of those.

Luckily Kym wasn't too fussed about colours, so I had

free range with my colour choices.

This is my favorite block choo choo!!

I used lots of different blues, greens and yellows from my scrap pile, and I

am really happy with the way the colours have worked. I did quilt a little butterfly on the dogs

nose, but I think it got lost in the quilting.

 

 I did quilt some blocks quite heavily in the background

and some not, I know this can cause problems some times

but I'm crossing my fingers.

 This is the block I changed, it did have a space monster

on it, but what little boy doesn't like rockets!!

 It took 14 hours of machine quilting and Stitching in

the Ditch...................... I know I'm a little slow!!!

  

I used the blanket stitch on my machine for all the applique (as I don't have

the patience for hand stitching), luckily this makes the process

a lot quicker. otherwise I know it would never get done.

  

 What little boy doesn't like flying kites?

I finished off with a whimsical feathered border, I just had

to add feathers as I love quilting them.

Finally, every little man's accessory, matching Robot Sheets and Pillowcases

I really enjoyed making this little man his quilt and have many ideas

for more, just need to find the time!!

Twirl Baby Quilt

It's been a long time coming but I have

finally Quilted this quilt and now it's ready for an

adorable little girl, who was born yesterday.

Ooooo!!! Baby Baby !!!

Well, with the amount of babies about to hit

my world soon, I thought what a great excuse to

buy some fabric, to tell you the truth I didn't need much coaxing. It was fun

browsing the local quilt shop and trying different combinations, there is so much to choose

from, but this is what I came home with.

Love blue, green and yellow such a bright and fun

combination for boys.

Boys, have got to have cars and these are soooooo cute!!

and just in case you thought I was trying to tell you something!!!!

Pink!

Yes, I have been busy putting a few things together, just

a simple quilt, I have let the fabric speak for itself, so pretty for

a little girl, this quilt already has been snapped up for a

little bundle of joy due in February 2013

The fabric is called "Twirl" by Me and My Sister

Applique, how can I avoid applique for babies and kids quilts,

I love doing applique, it does take a little time and can be

fiddly but the end result is fabulous. I am probably going

to put this on a fairly plain background and let it pop.

This baby is from "Funny Baby" pattern by Amy Bradley Designs.

Wonky Star Block

With two babies due in the next two months in our family I decided, I'd better

get a move along with some baby quilts.

I've just started on the first one I'm going

to do Wonky Star Blocks.

The problem is we don't know if they are boys or girls, so

I will have to make two boy quilts and two girl quilts.

Should keep me busy for a while don't you think!
